About Me

I’m an Event Rider and Horse Trainer based in Rangiora, North Canterbury NZ. I offer a range of services.

Here is a bit more about me

My parents first introduced me to horses before I could walk, ever since then horses have been a massive part of my life. At the age of 3 I started to attend Pony Club and competing at shows doing Lead Rein classes. I first attended Pleasant Point Pony Club then as a family we moved to the Nelson Malbrough West Coast Area, where I attended Murchison Pony Club. During my time at Murchison Pony Club, I worked my way through my D Certificate all the way to achieving my B Certificate. I also competed in many teams events from Dressage to Showjumping to Eventing to Showing and even Mounted Games. I started helping and coaching younger riders and became someone they could look up to. My weekends would often be taken up with competitions, where I would do dressage one day and showing and showjumping the next. By having to travel away I would make the most of every opportunity.

On many occasions I represented the Nelson Marlborough West Coast Area for Dressage and Showjumping. I finished my time as part of the NMWC Area by being nominated by the Area for the NZPCA Young Achievers award for my dedication to Pony Club and what Pony Club stands for. It was an honour to accept the award.

Growing up in a small rural town was challenging but also was an asset. I gained a lot of experience by travelling away for competitions. The nearest place for me to compete was minimum 2 hours away. By travelling so much I got to stay with some amazing people who had a wealth of knowledge to share. I was able to experience some things with my horses some people never get the opportunity to do. I would spend most of my summer’s swimming my horses in the river or adventuring around the hills. By not having Equestrian Centre’s with cross country courses 20 minutes away, I leaned to use my imagination. I spent my hours coming up with different jumps I could make and jumping every log or ditch I could find no mater the size.

After leaving school I went on to study and soon realised that my passion was horses and I wanted to make that my career. I would get my horse fix by coaching at the local Pony Club for experience. I went on to work for a Canterbury Event Rider, where I learnt about the preparation and management of a team of Event horses. I spent time riding Hunting horses for the Hunt Season and working at a horse stud for foaling and breeding season.

In 2021, I became part of the HRNZ Hero program as an educator. I had spent time schooling my mums Standardbreds and starting some under saddle. It is great to be apart of a team helping Standardbreds carrying on to their second career.

2022 came around and after much deliberation I decided to make horses my full time job.

I have continued my coaching by offering private lessons as well as coaching at Kaiapoi Pony Club. Coaching brings my so much joy, to be able to help both horse and rider complete their goals.

My plans are to carry on up skilling and improving my skills. I want to continue to produce great horse who go on to thrive in their second career as a ridden horse. My goals for my own horses to have a team of Eventing horses competing up to 3*. The ultimate goal is to compete over in Australia.

I couldn’t get to where I am today and where I will be in the future without all the support from family, friends and clients. I am so grateful for all the support.
